I always knew I wanted to work in theatre, and be around people who make theatre. The collective experience of being transported by a story, or having the world unveiled to you in some new way, is a very special kind of buzz, and I wanted to be part of that.

So as soon as I graduated, I hopped on a train to London to start a job answering phones at Cameron Mackintosh’s office. His revival of Oliver! at Drury Lane went into production the week I started, and within days Rowan Atkinson, or Rupert Goold, or Cameron himself were swooshing past my desk, and I remember thinking; ‘I’m here, I’m on the inside now!’.

This led to an 11-year career as a theatre publicist, working with wonderful clients on over 80 incredible productions; the UK & Ireland tour of Wicked, the Olivier Award-winning UK production of In The Heights, and the London Premiere of Carrie The Musical to name a few.

But over the years, another passion snuck up on me. I’ve always owned a camera and enjoyed photography as a hobbyist, and eventually I decided to explore it more seriously. I invested in a ‘proper’ camera, enrolled on a course, and was immediately hooked. I love that photography is both science and art, technical and creative.

I feel very lucky to be able to combine my dual passions of theatre and photography. I get to witness, document and interpret another person’s art as it is enters the world, and that's an immense privilege.
